Hey guys! I have had this angel about a week now. Ordered him online from a highly recommended seller. Two of the 4 fish I ordered passed away, I think the second is in relation to this issue. The angel is currently in QT. I came back from work today and noticed one of his eyes has gotten very cloudy (he’s been hiding in pvc pipes so I haven’t gotten a good look at him until just now). I also noticed these scratches around his eye, attached in the photo. Photo doesn’t show cloudy eye.

I’m pretty sure it’s flukes because I freshwater dipped him and 3 oval like things turned milky and fell off. I just wanted to make sure this is the damage I am seeing and it’s not anything more bacterial wise. He’s now started on PraziPro with the other surviving fish. He seems to be out swimming but I have had a rough time getting him to visably eat.

I'm going to tag the experts on this one. I'm assuming the fish was netted to bag and ship to you and then netted again to put in your tank. I'm hoping the eye thing is just collateral damage from the net and the fish will recover.

@Jay Hemdal what are your thoughts sir?

It unfortunately just popped up within the last few days I think. Did not notice it like that when I put him from bag to QT :/ It’s also identical on both sides.

The damage you mention are likely from scratching from flukes. With flukes, you will see red or swollen gills, sudden darting, itching, elevated breathing , foggy eyes, loss of appetite and yawning as examples. Suggested would be to place the fish in a separate tank and treat with Prazi pro applying dose at 85% of recommended with air stone added and allow the dose to run over 8 day period, do a water change and apply one more application

On the side of getting it to eat check your local seafood market or grocery store and find clams on the half shell you could try some different frozen foods such as mysis calanus and blood worms I also recommend garlic guard and selcon

If you still have the water make sure these are Neobenedenia. Jay wrote this today "two doses of prazi is often not enough" really can add to the QT period. Add in the case of Egg laying Capsalids (Neobenedenia) and up to 5 doses (40 days) !

Can you get a photo of the cloudy eye? Generally, a SINGLE cloudy eye is a result of an injury, while Neobendenia causes both eyes to become cloudy (in severe cases). The milky oval sure sounds like Neobenedenia, but only seeing 3 means it is a minor infection, something else is causing the fish not to eat.

Can you get a video of the fish swimming in the tank?

When dosing Prazipro, you'll want to read this:

Additionally - is the photo of the fish upside-down accurate - if so - it's a very negative prognostic sign. The fact that other fish have rapidly died suggests velvet - did you quarantine the fish?
