Should I still treat the main display with the second dose of Prazi or let it go since we are not that sure of the diagnosis being flukes anymore?

There is an old English saying, "in for a penny, in for a pound". The only drawback for doing the second dose of prazi is cost, if you already have it on hand, I'd do it.

Sounds good. Will dose the second dose. Was just worried about the corals but they seem to be doing ok for the most part

Prazi may cause some corals to retract for a bit, but it won’t kill them.

I agree prazi won’t harm corals long term.

Thanks for all your comments. Will definitely dose a second dose PraziPro in display at day 7.

Update regarding the tang. Last night, I transferred the tank to a hospital tank with fresh saltwater that was salinity and temperature matched and placed on the back with some established media from the display. I also added appropriate dosage of prazi for the hospital tank and also placed some abx powder dissolved in the tank. This is 1 bactrim ds tablet crushed and dissolved in about 9gallons of water… that’s all the abx I had and I wanted something broad spectrum knowing that there is not a lot of data on this for aquarium use.

The breathing has slowed significantly and it seems to have a better appetite than before. See video. Ammonia checked today and is 0. What do I do today? Should I do another dose of abx and prazi pro with a water change? Replenishing just for the amount of water changed or leave it alone?

See video

Now I’m not sure if it is the antibiotic that made the difference or if it is the prazi. Unclear why prazi would work in one tank, but not in the other tank. Again, no other fish are affected in the main tank and skimmer is on, but not collecting any skimmate and the carbon is all removed.

Cautiously optimistic….

I think that was too quick for an antibiotic to have helped. It’s also pretty quick for prazi to have helped much. Is there anything about the physical move itself that could have changed its condition? Better aeration, cleaner water, removal of some stressor?

Thanks! Not sure what could have been a stressor in the main tank. Trying to think. Same tank mates and no obvious bullying from anything else. No other fish was showing symptoms of o2 starvation and no change with aeration. If it was from physical stressor, I shouldn’t have seen the face twitching that was happening in the display tank? The face twitching led me to think some sort of physical gill irritation either protozoan or other?

Trying to think of there could be stray voltage or something in the display tank but the voltmeter picked up the same voltage as the quarantine tank

Stray voltage is a red herring, it doesn’t cause any issues, despite what you’ll read online.

Now - short circuits are dangerous to people, and can harm the fish, your aquariums should all be on a GFI circuit.

Thanks. Yes, they are connected to a GFCI. Another thought I had was maybe prazi not working in the main display tank. Thinking back, I had dissolve the appropriate amount of prazi and some salt water, and then pour the salt water into the aquarium. When I did this, it formed a sticky precipitate along the walls of the container that I had mixed it in. I tried ti get as much of it back into the water. So I wonder if some of it precipitated out prematurely, and the working concentration was not therapeutic? The skimmer did go crazy for a while, so I’m not sure if it was the solvent that made it do that. either way the skim mate was going back into the tank. It has been five days since the initial dose in the display tank. I’m planning on doing a 20 to 30% water change today and redosing the display today directly instead of mixing it like before.

But will there be a situation where flukes will only affect one fish and not any of the other fishes? The other fishes are some bangai cardinals, clowns, royal gramma and mandrain dragonet and that too show up on the tang 4weeks after its introduction when it was the last fish to be added?
Ie can flukes be dormant in a tank and affect a newcomer?
