In my opinion you are better off upgrading the return pump, sicce makes some nice small ones, over adding a wavemaker. If you have something in mind that requires high flow than a wave maker that does 200-400 gph might not be horrible, ideally DC incase it's too powerful.

You can either go with a higher flow pump and use a @Vivid Creative Aquatics RFG or go with a small programable wave maker. What is important is that you have good flow across the whole tank. It is more ideal to do this randomly. It would be even better if you could create a schedule that creates more flow as your light increases. Again either with a DC programable return pump and a RFG or a wave maker.
