I’m a buy new to saltwater aquariums I have the flu Al flex 32 tank and I’m noticing the stock filter isn’t too great. I’ve heard good things about canister filters. Is it easy to switch to the canisters on the flex? Would I have to take the whole aio section out of the tank? Any YouTube video recs to see what I can do

What do you want to accomplish exactly? A canister is mainly a mechanical filter on salt tanks, to me it sounds like an expensive difficult project just for filter floss or activated carbon. Do you want to control nutrients? Get more flow?

I would suggest powerheads for more flow. More flow will push more water through your filtration system. AIO systems often require powerheads to help increase the flow. More flow in itself should create improvement to your system IMO.

But to answer your exact question, I'm sorry I don't know, hope someone else can answer. Good luck

Thanks man I appreciate it. I do have a power head but I feel that it was too powerful for the tank it’s no adjustable. It suppose to me the size that’s recommended but idk I had it in my tank for a week and I feel like the fish and coral weren’t liking it.

What size, or what gph is the powerhead? Normally its suggested to have minimum 20x turnover in the tank, so that mean 32 x 20 = 640 gph. I personally run my tanks at 30x-40x turnover, but this just gives you an idea of where you can or should be.

I just looked it up it says the max flow rate is 740 gph/2800 lph

Personally I think thats a good size powerhead, it will be about 25x turnover which is good. Put it about one third of the way down and aim it upwards to create ripples on the water surface, that way the water creates a sort of turning or circling motion through the tank. Ripples on the water surface also help with gas exchange to help oxygenate the water

Sounds good I’ll try it out again that way and see

I use a Hygger 2600 wave maker in my 32 gallon it’s programmable and is perfect for my tank. It very affordable and you could pick it up for less tomorrow or on cyber Monday. Oh by the way, O-H! The Game Saturday!

I have a flex and it’s crystal clear. You shouldn’t need a filter if you are doing everything else right.

The InTank media baskets for the Fluval Flex do a great job of directing the flow top to bottom through the baskets. I’ve used these for a while now and am very pleased. I have mine loaded up with filter floss mats, cut from the InTank floss. They are a little pricey but worth it. Beware of Etsy knockoffs.

These are pretty neat. I’ll look in to these in might just get them
