What a glorious thread for us poors and non-type A personalities. I’ve found my people.

Mounted above my utility sink. A good representation of my life.

This pic takes me back to the 80s. At work we would have power outages occasionally. Turned out to be a broken supply cable outside under the concrete. The blokes who came to fix it said it was intermittent because it was the wrong sort of water causing the broken wires to short. Turns out, they knew what they were talking about.

Mine is quite simple with a lot of 5 gallon bucket usage I bought my 55 gallon barrels local and cleaned them out, then bought two 5 gal buckets with screw on lid toppers. Cut the barrels to silicone in the top few inches of the buckets with lids And done.

My mixing is my rodi feeding into the white barrel and 5 gallon bucket transfers to the blue salt barrel. I use a Sicce zero utility pump for mixing.

Lol well if it makes up for it, I’m waiting everyday for the pierced water connection I put into the water heater line to decide it is indeed a janky setup

Na you'll be good. I set mine up with one long enough ago that I can't remember how long and it's still good.
A good start to being janky would be to add some extra RO tubing so it's sprawled all over the place. Extra credit if you use all the same color so you have to follow the tubing to see where the heck it goes.
I wish mine looked as neat as yours. I alway start trying to make things nice and neat but it never seems to works out for me.

Everyone in a while we need to revel in the drive and dedication that comes from not being able to money whip things. 20 years ago this was a diy heavy hobby. Still is, but much less so these days.
