Foxface eating my zoas?

Is it possible my foxface is eating my zoas? I’ve lost 80% of my zoa frags in the past 2 months. Parameters are stable. Everything else is doing fine but I’m struggling with zoas

True, but I would say more often than not they will. And once a fish gets a taste, its over.

I have had my foxfacr for over 2 months now and he has never tried to eat my corals(including zoas) I usually feed my fish twice a day so he is well fed.Check your water parameters and you will be good!

I just bought a one spot foxface 2 days ago and I woke up this morning and noticed my Duncan was missing half a tentacle. Later I seen him go up and nip it. Which sucks because I have 2 very nice Zia frags coming tomorrow and now I know he will probably eat them so he’s gonna have to go. I’m watching my tangs eat seaweed right now and he won’t even go near it. He did eat a little frozen food but that’s about it. I’ve read multiple post where they love soft corals mainly Zoas. I’m guessing with that big of a wipe out it’s probably the foxface. Have you noticed any missing chunks out of the zoas like I did with the Duncan?

I have had 2 FF's - on second now - rehomed the first due to size - and because I never once saw it do what he is paid to do.. graze algae. - sat in a cave and waited to be fed - so moved it out and got a second smaller one thinking it would be better at its job.
And it is not grazing at all.

so while I do have occasional closing up of zoas in their gardens, I have not seen mine pinch at corals/zoas - I cannot rule out - mine have just been unexceptional tank members. do not think I will try a third

have you ruled out ZES (zoa eating spider), or ZEN (zoa eating nudibranch)?

Unfortunately, It is quite likely that a fox face has learned your polyps are food. I don't know of anything you can do at this point to break that habit.

I know this is an older thread, but I just saw mine going after Zoa's. I feed mine fox face twice a day. I'm going to increase the amount I feed. It's always been two cubes during each feeding. One mysis cube and one spirulina. I will post if this alters the behavior. I've had the fox face for 3 years. Editing to this. It's been 10 minutes since I posted this and he went towards it again. I was a break away colony with red algae one it. I got the zoa's for free except for the long drive. So, I'm not out anything. I can get more and if the fox face is going after the zoa's themselves then maybe I can give him my fox face to control his zoa population.

Just an update on what was going on yesterday. My Fox Face has not gone after anymore of the Zoa's. I think it was just going after the algae in between. I've got 4 small colonies. Three are on a plug or glued to a rock. The free-floating one is the one it went after. That colony is now pushed up against a rock pile, and I hope it takes a natural foothold there. I could glue it in place, but I've placed my other colonies. This one is my experiment, and I want to see if it takes hold on its own in a spot that it likes. Anyway, those colonies are untouched with no obvious damage to them.
I feel like I'm talking to myself right now and that's okay. This is something that I can look back on and review.

I've owned 3 FF. In my experience, they dont eat corals. FF are big eaters esp nori.

You have to feed FF them a ton of foods if you're going to keep one.

Ive had both foxface and heniocus butterflies go after zoas, reason neither are in my tank. Foxface will eventually back off and no need to feed tons of foods which will foul your tank. Feed then meaty foods in lieu of pellets and flakes as examples which wont fill them enough
