Everyone had the ability to quarantine. All it takes is a 10g tank and a HOB filter. Your other option is to buy qt fish. Sounds like you are going to learn the hard way like 99% of us do.
i dont know how the fish in other parts of the world are but all fish in Australia that are imported have to have a mandatory qt from what i remember with either the supplier of store.
I wish I could qt, it just isn’t possible right now. I can try to do a hydrogen peroxide dip. (If that’s what h2o2 is).

(edit) wrote this reply before the other message loaded.
I can maybe have a 5-10 gallon to have as a qt/observation. I do try to do my best with keeping healthy fish but I know a qt is the best way. Eventually I’ll be able to have one.
if the fish is eating nori and grazing algae and there is no signs of flukes or parasites there is no need for extra measures. just feed the tank and see how he goes for another week or so.

I’ll post an update if anything happens, good or bad.
Do you know if they can survive off mostly nori sheets/algae. From what I know rabbit fish in general are mostly herbivorous.

Do you still have your foxface? I have had one for 10 days in qt with a round of general cure and he hasnt eating anything. Just moved him to display hoping he can graze on rocks in the tank. He doesnt look terrible and is acting sort of normal. If he is still alive does he eat well?

I don’t have the Foxface anymore since I had a crash around a year ago due to velvet.
But I did keep him probably a year or two after this original thread. He ate very well after a while and basically became a grape. He was the first to eat and ate the most if I remember correctly. He ate from my hands and rly liked nori. Sadly he did pass during the crash. But rn I have another foxy who Is similar, eats a ton and even goes up to the surface to eat from my hands.
With my current foxy I saw he was rly nervous and took a while to warm up to the new tank.
I’m not entirely sure what I did to convince them to eat but both my foxys did eventually start to eat like pigs. I think it took them a couple weeks to warm up.
Do you know if yours was eating at the lfs? Have you tried nori?

Mine is an absolute pig. Eats any type of food I drop in the tank. I purposely try to create more Algea just to keep him busy. He’s even ate all the pineapple sponges. Give it time they will eat non stop. Meds have a side effect of decreasing appetite

Same... Least pickiest fish I have. Ate within 5 minutes of going into the tank after 24hours in a shipping box. It'll even eat a spider if it fell in the tank... Spends most of it's time under the feeding portal begging lol.

Tks for getting back. I put him in main display cuz i was starting to get worried and he has started eating a little. Still not gobbling everything up. Hope he gets greedy like all yours. Theres plenty of bubble algae in the tank so wish he would go for that

That’s pretty common with foxfaces—they can take a couple weeks to fully settle in and start eating prepared foods again, even if they were eating at the store. The good sign is that he’s eating nori, so he’s not starving. I’d keep offering a mix of foods (mysis, brine, maybe soaked in garlic or vitamins) and just give him time. As long as he’s not losing a lot of weight and acting normal, he should come around once he gets more comfortable..
