This is what i wanted for my frag tank

My 8 gallon "pico frag tank" for coral rescue/QT. Can't wait to have the room to do a big build like some of them here!

Thats a sweeeeeet build! Do u worry about aeresol transmissions of crypto etc?

Think I see a empty spot? ;Hilarious ;) Beautiful!

Where? I need to fill it :)

Been working on filling the tub up from the system I m trying to shut down and consolidate. Not sure if I need more space or better organizational skills.

Bet u were trash at Tetris.

I would love to frag but am scared I would kill my corals and 2 have no idea where or how I would sell them
Better to think of fragging as currency. Use frags to trade for more new coral u dont already have, locally... and do so without spending actual money.. thats what ive done over the years.

Waiting on my frag rack so I can transfer the frags from my display. This tank and my display share a sump.

Where did that tank come from? That’s just about right for my set up.

I had a buddy build it for me. It's 18x18 at 8 inches tall with an external overflow.

Really interested in this thread. Thanks for starting this up!!

Will read over all the detailed posts.
Certainly looking forward to more successful examples of Frag tanks (Tips, tricks and innovations)

I've had NO success with my SPS only Frag tank, and I'm starting all over again (new batch of Corals)

This time I'm adding automation.

My 35 Gal FRAG TANK design.

Lighting = (2 Radion XR30's Gen 1)
Fitrtation=Mini Algae Scrubber(Cheato) / Carbon / BioMedia (MarinePure)
Nutrients= 2 Picasso Clowns, and 1 Copperband Butterfly
Circulation= (Grye CP-40)
Water Changer
Currently: NO DOSER, NO SKIMMER

I messed up with doing ALK Manually so many times (neglect) and why I'm adding a doser this time.

Fill with Frags. (None made it :( )

This is my Inter-Tank hookup for the Frag Tank since I can't/won't plumb to my 110G SPS tank.

#1 Physically difficult.
#2 Frag Tank is too risky to join to SPS only Main Tank (risk to the main tank)

It's all driven by a Auto Daily Water Changer (DIY)

2020-05-26_AutoWaterChainDailyChain.jpg

Rather than Hook up the tanks together, I do daisy chain water changes between the tanks.
WATER IS REUSED 3 times (from Cleanest Tank down to Dirtiest)

Frag Tank is 2nd in chain (SPS TANK gets new Water) , and Mixed Tank get the Frag Tank Water.

Daily 1 Gallon Water changes are done with This DIY changer. Plumbing is simple air line tubing.

The Frag Tank sits on my Old 65 Scratched up Gallon Tank, after upgrade the SPS tank to 110G.
The 65G Underneath is my New Salt Water Reservoir.

Really hoping things work of this time.

Frag Tank has something new since I made it for the SPS TANK. Recently installed
.

2020-02-28_AquaMonInstall-3Tanks.jpg

It's a DIY ALK MOnitor. Monitors ALK(only) on ALL 3 Tanks.
It's basically a Hanna ALK Checker Automated by robotics. (Made from Hacked apart Broken Printer)

Soon to be hooked into a DIY Sister AUTO Doser for Auto Adjusted Dosing (controlled by the Alk Monitor)

Hope things go well this time.

Or I'll just make the Frag Tanks a FOLR tank for viewing.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?
