Frammer?

I am trading some rocks and a 40 breeder for 3 heads of frammer coral. I have read a little and it says that it’s ok with medium light and medium flow. My question is, does it need to be fed? If so what would be a good food for it? I have zoas and palythoa who don’t really thrive yet, but I don’t feed them anything but some phytoplankton ever so often. Would the frammers be ok with this or should I feed something else?

Also, my tank is a 29 now. Is this an ok size for this? I am trying to stay positive in this hobby and hoping a new coral helps me.

Frammers are cool. I’ve never kept them but I’m sure their care is the same as a hammer. Match the lighting and flow as suggested. For feeding, I recommend feeding meaty foods not phyto. Can use reef roids (zooplankton), frozen foods, chopped up clams, etc. Smaller sized pieces of course. I actually like to use higher flow than suggested on hammers and frogspawn. I think when some people think medium flow, they think dead spot in the tank. Make sure the tentacles are out and waving about. Not frantically but solid swaying.

I wonder, I have some detritus worms in my pond which I feed the fw fish. I wonder if they would be ok to feed the frammer? They are small, about 1/8th an inch usually.

I’d not feed something like that. Who knows what else lurks in the pond.

Honestly, they don’t need to be direct fed that much. For live foods, not sure they’ll take them in so easily. I feed frozen food to my tank daily and my corals that are of similar type, take in food from the column when they want. They don’t seem to eat often. Proper lighting is key as the zooxanthellae in their tentacles will provide most of their food through photosynthesis.

Sounds great! Yeah it’s a sterile pond I use for foods for my fw bettas. But like you said live food may not be best for these.. thanks!

I’m in love! In the tank for about an hour and seems to be happy so far. May be too soon to tell but I’m taking the fact it’s open as a great sign. Hoping it thrives :)

Just curios how long it takes to show color? It looks nice and plump and healthy but the tips don’t seem to glow for me, even when the light goes to all blue. Possibly still acclimating? It has gotten bigger, kinda retracts a hair at night but not fully. Definitely not messing with him, don’t want undue stress. He is in a standard 29 gallon, sitting in the sand with some decent flow. I can see him swaying gently. The light is an orbit marine, 36 inch so there’s overhang. Here’s a pic of the little guy from tonight, and a fts. He’s on the right, far from the palys and zoas.
