Fresh frags arrival

I just got a bunch of frags I ordered from Pieces of the Ocean on their Father's Day shenanigans. Floating in the tank now, temp adjusting. Question on these plugs here: can I just tick everyone into the sand for a day (lights off) and redistribute them tomorrow to more permanent spaces? And these plugs - theoretically I can stick them into a hole in the rock, use adhesive if necessary, and leave it at that?

I normally stick my frags on the sand until I get around to mounting them. But why would you turn the lights off?

Yes you can stick them in holes, or cut the stems off, or if you can pop them off the plug then even better.

Shouldn't I turn my Radions off? Or is that just for fish? Or turn the lights on but low PAR (I have Radion XR 30 G6 on a 40 gallon and these are all LPS and softies, I don't want to fry anything.)

I typically float to temperature adjust, dip and remount frags on new plugs, then put into a frag holder which I position at the sand bed.

My dip powder is coming via UPS today (Potassium Chloride powder), but isn't here yet and I don't know how much longer I should keep these frags floating.

Does anybody acclimate anymore? I got CUC yesterday and instructions said "Just do the temperature and drop them in." And everybody was fine. Back in the day slow water acclimation was the standard, it's out now?

Shouldn't I turn my Radions off? Or is that just for fish? Or turn the lights on but low PAR (I have Radion XR 30 G6 on a 40 gallon and these are all LPS and softies, I don't want to fry anything.)

The lights are a set it and forget it thing. Once you got it set the way you want, leave and never touch it again. If your light settings are much stronger than most other people, then it requires light acclimation, people use a rack and slowly raise the rack higher to the light. But generally most people are running lights at similar strength and no light acclimation is needed in most cases. IMO

I never turn off the lights when I add new corals. Almost everything nowadays is grown under LEDs and I have LEDs. I do put them on a frag rack until I decide on a permanent place for them. I’ve never had one bleach or act any different. In fact, most of them open up in a few hours.

Well, the dip looked like a success. (I did 2 tablespoons for 1 gallon.) A few things crawled out, one looked nastay. Looked like this guy - this isn't my photo, this is from Tidal Gardens video on acclimating corals, and the worm I saw today reminded me of this one.

Kept them in the solution for 10 to 15 mins, then put them in the tank. Some of them "opened up" right away; not completely, but there was some activity. The flower anemones worried me, though one of them quickly righted itself and wedged between rocks. The other one was laying sideways for a while, but eventually sat up as well.

Now do I have these frags too close to each other? They're tiny. The Elegance Coral is large, but the others are tiny frags. You can see one of the flower anemones on the rocks.

The ones of the right look too close together. Probably want to spread them out a bit and then observe for sweeper tenacles and coral warfare.

Those are a great choice of frags!
