Hello all this is my first post since march 1st when everyone died except the 2 clowns. next day a 90 day fallow period started and clowns went to a qt tank with copper safe at the level for alittle over a month.over the course the clowns got healthy and back to normal but still in qt till may 30th. On May 30th it ended and 2 clowns and new watchman goby/candy cane pistol shrimp pair entered the tank, the next week a royal gramma was introduced after being in qt . Everyone doing good and eating well. Then last week I add a small gem tang into the display was doing great eating nori and brine shrimp great, also breathing normally but then this morning I have a look and I see him breathing rapidly. Do you guys see a powder coat on him cause it could be velvet but not sure. I Do a water change weekly with store bought filtered ocean water. Just need your guys thoughts thinking about placing in qt just want to see what you guys think.

Nope just a healthy fat Gem. That is the scales and mucus on the fish. And it’s looking like it’s eating aggressively good thing! A majority of the time, if velvet is seen that fish is 99% dead. Velvet attacks the gills first. It’s why you need to watch and understand fish behavior. My blue bar annularis shows this shiny coat like that. Normal.

Watch fish breathing, flashing, hiding, fins constantly tucked in to the body, dashing on a regular, not eating, foggy eyes, spots. These are common signs of issues.

Just wanted to see what yall thought because before today he was breathing but slower today since the morning he’s been rapid. Last tang I didn’t even notice. But he did eat well today, just the rapid breathing really.

Can you get a video about 20-30 seconds under bright white lights posted?

Yes this is him under the white light, stil breathing rapidly but is eating nori and eat brine shrimp earlier. Currently dealing with a feather duster and aptasia problem.

Tank parameters what are they? Do you have good co2 exchange in the tank? Surface agitation with power head and even return nozzles pointed to the surface.

How are the clown doing? Are they eating and breathing normal? If possible get a video posted of them to.

Did you do prazi treatment? That is normally part of the QT protocol here. Dose two times at least and 8 days apart.

Flukes can be a problem if the fish was not treated for such issues.
