I have hydroids popping up constantly in my tank. I've been just hand scraping them off because I don't really like how they look. Research tells me that they're harmless and go away after a while, but I've had them for about 3-4weeks without it seeming like any overall decrease.

How do i get rid of these buggers besides hand scraping?
If i don't do anything, how long do they stay in the tank?

Thanks!

Generally by saying “a while “ it’s actually months , like the ugly phase.

If you are having particularly large blooms , look for actual hydroid colonies , either on the live rock or corals you may have purchased.
