I’m brand new to the hobby and originally was going to get a 40 gallon breeder and run a canister filter because I wasn’t comfortable doing plumbing sump. I saw this and thought it was a great deal and then I’m getting it all for $200. I know I’ll need to add more equipment. I assume a protein skimmer , auto top off, light (maybe one to support coral later on or depending on cost, heater w/not sure what it’s called notifies you if heater malfunctions and shuts it off, live sand, real reed rock maybe uv light?, test kits… any suggestions would be amazing. It will still take me few months to get all equipment I need I’m in rush and want to do it right. I want live fish and after about 6+months some beginner friendly corals. He said he could give me two power heads with controller for $50 more. Thanks in advance for reading all this and helping me out and giving me advice.😊

This is the description from the seller he is delivering for me tmrw very kind person😊

It's a 40 gallon breeder that includes overflow, Return pump, sump, plumbing, lid, and stand. Plus, the filter sock holders take standard 4 inch socks and include media cups so rather than running a reactor. You can literally just throw some media in a filter bag and put it into the cup in the filter sock holder. So you can run polishing with the sock and media in the other. It's pretty much new. . The stand looks great and has a place to mount a light. The unions are all in great shape so it makes setup a breeze as well. The sump sits on the floor but you can't really see it in the cabinet. The overflow box is rated for way way more flow than you'll ever need in this tank. It has a crash box and a gate valve so you can precisely control the flow to dial in the overflow. I.e., get rid of the gurgling noise. Plus, it has an emergency overflow (third pipe) so the odds of it overflowing are next to zero. The guy had the overflow box custom made by the company to fit into the 40 breeder. It's nearly a coast to coast overflow which is super good!

Looks great!

Sumps are much easier once you understand them than Canister filters! So much easier to clean and make changes to plumbing etc.

Good Luck!
Thank you so much. I don’t know that I completely understand some so I’m gonna watch a few videos so I can understand like exactly how it works

Good luck, that's an interesting stand right down to the lighting support. You will need some flow if it is not included.

Looks like you got an amazing deal. An excellent set up to begin your reef journey. Take your time and don't rush buying lots of equipment. If you go slow and learn the biology behind reef keeping, you can have a thriving reef with live rock, sand, flow and light. Most of all, have fun!
