I've been battling algae back and forth since I set my tank up last December. It'll get really bad and then clear up really well for a few weeks and then come back. I'm curious what it is I'm fighting against and was hoping to get some help with ID'ing it. It gets really bad in the sand, I'll scoop it out in huge clumps from the sand and grows into long tufts in the rock. Not sure if anyone cares for parameters but just tested and nitrate is 5.3ppm and Phosphate is 0.07. Was just going to change out my gfo

looks like gha to me. What's your tank size? maybe a tang, and if not hermits for longer tufts and trochus to nip it in the bud.

It's a fluval flex 32.5 gallon. I was leaning towards gha based on what I could find on it. I'll look at getting some more hermits, only have 2 as of now. Plenty of trochus though, they are multiplying in my tank.

Yes gha, a Tuxedo urchin will help if you can keep it short. I’ve seen some fantastic before and after pictures when a sea hare was placed in a tank over run with gha.
