GHL Profilux 4e Controller - Quick Easy Steps on Installing an Expansion Card

A quick how to video on installing an expansion card into a #GHL Profilux P4e. These same steps can be used for the Profilux 4, Expansion Box or the Profilux P4e.



The Screwdriver set I used to open up the unit was bought at Amazon:

I just installed an expansion card.

I get absolutely nothing / no recognition from the P4 at all.
I tried both empty slots and have taken it apart to double check the connection.
its not even registering in my system tab.

any ideas?

@chefjpaul - Can you get a quick picture of it installed inside the unit. What firmware are you running?

It should work without any issues, after you install it then you should see them in the Sensor list and activate them.

Is this a BNIB card from us, or second hand/prior used? Do you have another P3/P4 that you could try the card in?

Hey Marco - Yes its BNIB, I just recived it last week from You in FL. opened it today to install.

I do not have another unit.

i did try an install the GCC and update firmware again, and it still does not recognize the card.

Can you update firmware to 7.20 via GCC 1.1.2.5, and see if that makes any difference?
Make sure up backup settings and sensor data first.

The card is still not anywhere to be found.

did the update, backed up everything and now all data is gone back.

I did notice that during starting up the new firmware, the P4 said card slot 2 is unrecognizable. (Or something to that effect, it was fast).

unfortunately no.

But you also said it says it did not see the card at boot up either but gave an error message.

Something to that effect. I barely caught it during start up.

Been through every menu as well.

Kinda weird. Most GHL tasks take about 10 minutes, been stuck on this one for couple hours.

How about this:
I am running the maxi & Doser2 as slave.

Could I turn one of them into stand alone and utilize the temperature of that for my heater control? Will the PL need adjustments?

Maxi is just ATO for two tanks.

Since this card isn't registering.

I would first reach out to support and create a ticket and make sure it not a faulty expansion card.

Once you pull the master doser off and enable it has master, which in turn allows you now now to use the temp port and program directly on the device. The P4 will non longer be able to program the master doser and the programming is now done on the master doser.

The master would need a power bar connected to it to control the heater. I am not sure if this possible (may have to actually try this with my master maxi in the basement)
