Here are a couple pics of one of my gigas. If you look hard you can see the growth ring from when I got it in the pic where I am holding it. Best guess I have had it just shy of a year so far. Lighting is 400watt Mh. I am up to 250mils of alk and 250 mils of ca a day. I also started dosing part c with good results so far.

These have grown out great! Happy I started this thread but I am bowing out. I donated my gigas to my local zoo along with 2 hippo clams, derasa, and 2 squammy. It wasn’t getting too big or anything, I had a stock tank just for it, but I like the zoo and they are building out their coral and clam collection. I am hoping more people get to see these clams.

Well my little guy held on for over a year but now he is done. Worms and snails are starting to eat him. He is still alive as he closed when i went to pull him out. Just a sad day.

Did you try QT, FW dip, manual removal of snails, etc, all the usual treatments?

I dipped my gigas probably 3 different times when it was going through this, and now it is doing great. Definitely was a life saver.

Another update: clam is doing great! there was a few weeks where he was half way closed up so I inspected the bottom shell and there was a bristle worm that I picked off not sure if that was the cause or not so I ended up doing a complete cleanout of his holding tank, got rid of the sand and any worms would live in and he looked instantly better the next day. A month later here he is living the dream filtering water for my display tank.

After surviving a tank leak, a near freshwater experience, a rock falling on it, nutrient and alk fluctuations, I’ve finally got everything stable and am gradually reducing high nutrients. This is the result of that stability coupled with the Reef Moonshiners method of mineral control is growth just taking off.
