Hello,

After about a decade off and two uninformed failed budget builds I’ve decided to try once more to build a mixed reef tank I’ve always envisioned. This forum has been exponentially helpful with trying to do my research this time around and I couldn’t be more thankful. I’m planning on taking things very slowly getting it properly cycled and slowly introducing a bioload but I’m absolutely all ears for any pitfalls I should lookout for, I had major algae issues in the past so I’m gonna try to be very diligent.

-Tank: (reefer 200xl 43 gallon display
-Sump: 11 gallon with planned small refugium
-Skimmer reef octopus 130
-lightning reefer red 90
- two unknown wave generators
-3 pump dosing setup (for when I buildup the courage to get corals).
-40lbs dry live rock
- 40 to 60lbs of live pink sand
- RODI
- NYOS and Red Sea test kits.

You just need to maintain water quality and stability of all your parameters, and you should do ok.

If you don’t you will encounter issues, but anything you need to know just ask

And Welcome to R2R!!!

Anyone else here using the Red Sea Test Kits (Mg, Ca, Alk)? Mine are giving me different measurements compared to my hanna checkers... who to believe?

Welcome to R2R and Happy Reefing!
