Anybody know of some weird looking bottles I should keep an eye out for? I'd like to formulate a list of what to generally get before I go shopping cluelessly lol.

a local distillery (High West Whiskey) has great bottles. One variety has glass with bubbles and imperfections. At one point I had a pile of empty’s I thought I’d turn into tumblers. They also taste great!

You knew I would interject at some point, I see the idea but would never do this in my tank!

... unless it was a broken rum bottle! ;)
I would expect nothing less.

I actually have this one that came off of an old shipwreck! It was given to my wife by a family friend! It still has the calcification on it. She told me that I can put it in my tank but I'm not sure I want to break it or drill a hole to allow for water flow. It's a little too valuable and rare in my opinion to damage!

My other option is taking silicone and sand covering the bottles that way.
hang tight or read through scratch's build think in there

That resembles an OLD style fire extinguisher bulb. Would have been filled with liquid, and in event of fire it would be thrown at the fire. Ya know...in case of fire break glass ;)

I'm to the cement stage. I picked up quikrete fast set mortar repair. I'm a little unsure if I should use this or not.

I'd use hydraulic cement. All you're trying to do is add texture, correct? I read Paul's article/thread a while back, dont remember if he mentioned what he used or not. I used the hydraulic cement and acrylic bonding agent to "glue" my rocks together, if you use it, mix it thin and rub it all over and let it set, then add another coat...my .02

What paul uses is not in my area. The quikcrete repair mortar is the closest I could find.

Thin than second coat globs in places to make it look aged and texture.

Than let it cure for a couple of weeks. Anything else I should do.

I'm reading through your thread.

There are some pretty wild things you can do with glass bottles if you have access to a sand blaster. You can tape off the areas you want preserved and cut out any hole shape or pattern you want. It does take a lot of time but is easy to do and is fun.
