+1 to this. Do you have a wye check valve on your return line? That should drastically cut back on the back flow into the sump. In any case as long as there is plenty of wiggle room after the drainage which looks like there is you should be fine.

I don't, but I'm going to keep the return right at the water level so it won't be able to syphon much.

There is a hole on the top of the overflow elbow with a tube coming out of it. The return nozzle is connected to locline.

For sure. I was just curious, mine has it, its an "anti siphon" hole, BUT the downside is the piping on mine was a little taller so it doesn't sit at the water line, so water sprays down into the over flow as well as out the nozzles, but the spray into the overflow is loud. I just put a piece of sponge wedged between it to absorb it :)

It's on the bottom of the pipe if there is one, right? I've heard of those. I didn't check underneath. If I don't have one is that a flood risk?

correct, on the bottom in the crease. I'ts not a huge risk/ just make sure your nozzles are pointed up to the surface (which it what everyone basically does anyway) so if the return did happen to create a siphon once the water clears the nozzles it stops.
I would have preferred to not have it just so i don't have to have the sponge blocking it, just one more thing for me to keep clean lol.

If it was mine, I would not. I don't like the spray into the overflow. but you can if you would like, just as like a secondary fail safe.

That is the main reason I put the check valve in, the I can have my return flow were it is needed and having to be concered about siphoning.

Yes but most of the other valves are spring traps, and those make your return pump work harder. Then you lose flow

Yeah it's a little steep but trust me it's worth every penny! The return line back siphon stops a fraction of a second after the pump goes off. The only water that drains into my sump is the amount that is in my overflow box which is hardly any. I highly recommend getting one.

Again 1+ I can hear the stopper hit as soon as I shut down the pump.

I purchased on of the cheaper one, before a purchase the wye. The wye was recommended by a member. It was harder to blow air through the cheaper on the the wye, and wye worked so much better

Today I (hopefully) sealed a small leak in the overflow bulkhead and added pvc braces to keep the pvc weight from putting pressure on the bulkheads.

Next step is ordering rocks and sand!
