Hey everyone! We have an agricultural frag farm and we are currently washing our hands before we put our hands in any system. How ever we have gone back and forth with putting gloves on. Lots of pros lots of cons. My question is; what type of gloves are safe to use in reef tanks?

Any plastic gloves should be fine – and so should hands and arms.

Just make sure no lotion, bug spray, perfume, etc. If there are any of those things, I wouldn't trust simple washing to remove them.

Tunze's gloves are nice since they are thinner. Coralife's gloves are nice since they are thicker.

I keep a box of disposable nitrile gloves. Powder free, latex free, chemical resistant. I also keep a couple of boxes in the garage when working on the car or painting or staining.

If I am doing reef restructuring or getting in the lower area then I have a pair of atlas nitrile elbow length that is also chemical resistant.

You will probably have to find something that works for all and get sizes. Also may be job/task related.

I do not buy hobby labeled items as there is no need. I don't need to pay the reef tax.

I too use nitrile gloves. Here I get them cheap at Harbor Freight. I also use a rubber band around my wrist to keep water out if my wrist gets wet.

ARE YOU READY TO CONFESS TO CRAZIEST, DUMBEST, FUNNIEST THING YOU’VE EVER DONE IN REEFING?
