Goniopora Sick?

I have a month with this green Goniopora and I bought it with a black spot. Is that just one dead part or a disease? I notice that it is getting bigger ..

Looks like an infection, esp if it’s getting bigger. Does it look like infected flesh or can u see the skeleton?

Looks like skeleton. Rest of it looks great as these can be challenging
Keep an eye on it to assure it remains the way it currently looks
I had one similar a couple years ago and dabbed some gel super glue over the dead spot to prevent algae from growing on it causing further problems.

I dipped it and cleaned the area . It was like a dead stem and now I can see the skeleton.
I placed it on the bottom of the tank. Great idea with the glue. I will monitor and see
If anything weird grows in the spot to apply glue. A question as I am new in this hobby. Can another stem grow in here? Or no?

Generally not with goniopora

Goniopora are very difficult to keep, I’ve had one form a spot like that. It spread a little and a few polyps died. No changes in tank whatsoever. Eventually new growth overtook that spot and that was the end of it. I love these corals, my pink Goni is stunning but constantly challenges me and I would classify it as temperamental at best. Based on that though and my experience if you start changing things trying to bring it around it is easy to do more harm than good. I’ve learned to just let it do it’s thing, maybe not best advice but this is just my experience.
