I love Rock Flower Anemones! Aka RFA

One of the RFAs looks like this one and the others are even more dramatic:

Good morning. Some snow flurries this morning but no accumulation expected. Something stole one of my bird suet cakes during the night. Took the wire hanging box and all! I’m thinking maybe the coyotes are the culprits. This one wasn’t hanging very high up. I just bought that thing a few weeks ago. I have two and the other one is on a taller pole. It is still there but that pole is leaning a little bit.

Good morning! We actually had a little light snow this morning. I hope you "coastals" do okay with the storm! I need to check on the little ones/DIL in the NE...I'm sure they're expecting a bunch of snow. I was stuck up there once during a blizzard. That was quite an experience. Cars on the highway following the biggest snowplows I've ever seen! I was heading to the airport the next day and it was business as usual....kids outside waiting for the bus and snowplows in the Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru lane. o_O Do they get free coffee on snowplow day??

@Mike from TN, I hope Angela is doing ok and you continue to stay negative! Traveling is tough. I had enough of that last week and certainly didn't feel "safe" in the airports/planes!

I may start relocating a few of my new frags for permanent placement this weekend. I also need to glue a few of the new zoas to the rock in the BioCube and do a w/c. Have a great Friday! ;Joyful

Happy Friday! I finished swapping out the di resins this morning, swapped socks, made some water, and tested alk. All before work lol. The caffeine is working.. I should be getting some goodies from BRS today - filter cups and some sea chem matrix. Gonna try filter cups with floss to see if I can get away from socks. The matrix is to see if I can get NO3 down without resorting to adding another reactor (NPX bio pellets) to the sump.

wonderful morning, Yellow-bellied Sap Sucker enjoying a drink at the heated bird bath flew away before i could snap a phone pic. was looking away from the window anyway. he is becoming a regular so maybe tomorrow he will land on the other side. Be creative today! It has all the makings of a beauty!

We are supposed to get a foot or two of snow tonight so I got 15 gallons of gas for my generator. Of course with a busted shoulder it will be interesting starting the thing but I am sure I will get it going. If our power doesn't go out, I have an extra tank of gas for my car. :D

I can't lift a gas can that high right now or in the next couple of months but I have a lot of friends that will help me. Changing my water is a different story. I don't think I can collect water before my surgery so my fish will just have to cope 6 months or so without new water but I rarely change water anyway so they won't even know.

Maybe, I rarely see them but see the coyotes all the time. I thought the raccoons would just eat it and not carry the whole thing off. I looked around the area and could not find the wire basket anywhere. Opossum and coyotes is all I’ve seen here but that doesn’t mean there aren’t raccoons too.

Good morning all... :) that's exactly what i was thinkin' Mike..lol...

I am amazed that we have coyotes here in the middle of suburbia, but they set up camp for a few months every year. Seriously, if you don't here the pack barking at night, the first sign they are back is seeing a lot of "lost cat" flyers being put up.

Coons steal my suet feeders all the time. They one made off with Audrey’s food dish when she was still an outside “barn Cat. About a month later, Angela was outside and came running in the house and told me I had to see something. The food dish was about 25’ up in a tree stuck between the branches.
Waaaaay too many coyotes here in our area. They just get harvested if they get too close to the house or the henhouse.

Yeah, maybe it’s the raccoons then. I have a trail camera so maybe I should set that up again.

2 months after we moved in this house , 10 years ago, a coyote attacked our little dog. I used to put him on a tie out cable attached inside the garage so I didn’t have to go out in the cold. I barely got back in the house when I heard him yelping and crying. I immediately ran outside and could not find him. His collar was broken and off the cable laying on the ground. I called his name and heard another little yelp. I ran in that direction and saw a coyote half way across my yard with my dog in his mouth. I immediately charged the coyote with my arms up in the air and made loud growling noises at it. I was prepared to chase that coyote down. Doing all this while in my pjs. Fortunately the coyote dropped my dog and ran off. That was a $1700 emergency vet bill. Vet said he was extremely luck as the coyote just missed his juggler. Vet also said coyotes stalk their prey and know he was there outside every night at 10pm and I could never leave him unattended again cause the coyotes will be watching. So now he always goes out on a leash.
