Here is my so called wet skimmate just now. You know since according to someone else my skimmer should not work on my 40 breeder. LoL

So would you guys think that a vectra s1 would be to small for the sv24?

Yes, I think the S1 would be in the small side. Remember, DC pumps don’t handle head pressure too well. These skimmers do better with pressure rated pumps. If you’re going the Vectra route, I’d go M1.

I don't have a lifereef sump nor do I have the space for the full set up, however if I did, I most certainly would get one if price and availability was not a factor. I don't claim to be an expert but I have been in this hobby since 2001, I've been through, wet/dry filters, PC and VHO lights, metal halides, refugium, carbon dosing, L.E.Ds, over skimming, dry skimming. That being said simple is better from my experience. I started off with FOWLR and simple flourecent lights with a skilter, then upgraded to a wet dry sump and for the time a pretty good skimmer (don't remember the name of it), a jbj PC light. My skimmer at the time started to push the cup lid off. So I went with SWC 160 which at that time was a huge upgrade. There were not many options back then that I could afford. The SWC octopus I ran for many years with no issues but when I moved and lost my main tank (75 gallon) I bought a 40 breeder to start back up the SWC octopus was way too much I even tried the mesh wheel mod with no improvement so I went to the SCA 302 which was great. I started carbon dosing and switched to L.E.D.s and nuked my tank. In the meantime lifereef was always talked about how great they were, so I found a great deal for a lifereef skimmer, and a MH T5 hybrid for a steal( two different transactions). I built my own sump and I couldn't be happier with my new build. In the future I will go straight lifereef for the entire build, simple is better for me.

Now I really feel like a idiot lol....
Was on the phone with echotech on friday to try to resolve the problem I was having with the s1 pump not working the way it was supposed to...I sent the a video of me trying to do a reset on it and it wouldn't work...then they asked if I had a battery backup , I told them the only batter back up I have is my whole house generator....

The reason they asked is because in the small video I sent them the dial was blinking green..

They asked me about the power supply and send them a pic. They got back to me and said that I had the wrong power supply plugged into it ...

No I fixed that problem and here is the s1 pump working like a beast on my sv-24 lifereef skimmer

Glad it worked out for you. They really are great skimmers! You won't be dissatisfied.

Never said that I wasn't lol I have had jeff's equipment for years
You are lucky I had to find mine on eBay. Jeff is awesome, I bought mine used and he emailed me with in a day on how to set it up after I asked him for advice.... Even better he followed through s few days later to check up on me. It's a shame people don't respect their elders.

Ponraj where the water is coming out of the skimmer it should be threaded pipe. On mine I screwed in a 90 into that pipe so the water was closer to the water line and made it much quieter. Plus it allows you to redirect the flow out of the skimmer to keep your pump from pulling in the same water.

Stupid question since I seen a few posts that people are using a cor 15 or a jebao pump why don't any of you think a vectra s1 pump wouldn't be good enough?
Also can anyone tell me if the water / bubble level is where it should be

I’m not a fan of using the COR-15 for the 24” Lifereef either, though the max head height is advertised as 14’, a little better than the S1’s max height of 11.5’. If going the Jebao route, I’d go with a minimum of the DCP 6500, advertised as 1715 gph at 15’ of max head height. These skimmers operate better at higher flows and pressure, which the smaller DC pumps are quite poor at.

I am running a Cor20 on my 36" LifeReef and it works great on full power setting. My experience with the ecotech pumps are that they have over rated flow rates and drop off dramatically with little head pressure.

Set it level with the top of the lifereef sticker on the side of the body.
