Curious if I could get some opinions on this acro I have growing out in my frag tank.

I picked this frag up about five months ago at a CFM. When I bought it, I was told it was a Fox Flame, but it's pretty clear that's not the case. To be fair, it was dark, loud, and the booth was packed, so I'm guessing the seller took a quick look, saw the bright yellow and red, and assumed it was a Fox Flame. Honestly, I thought the same thing at the time.

Once I got it into my tank, I immediately realized it was something different. It has almost a grafted appearance, and as it's grown out, the reds have become much deeper while the yellows have gotten even brighter.

Do you guys think this could actually be a grafted piece? If so, does anyone have any guesses on what the parent colonies might be? I'd really appreciate any thoughts or opinions.

Thanks in advance!

Don't think it's grafted, but I do know that acros will drastically change colors depending on your tanks nutrient levels, PAR levels where the coral is placed, as well as trace element availability. They tend to go more green at higher nitrates and lower PAR, opposite the other way.

Also, its really hard to tell how a frag will look when it grows out. You can a frag next to a mother colony and it could look totally different.

Grafted corals come in 2 colors. Typically a gfp “green Florescence protein” or a dark purple that’s more rare. This doesn’t appear to be grafted.
