Grow light vs reef light

So i want to add some t5's to my current setup. Before I build a bracket to make my led/t5 combo fixture. As long as I buy bulbs specific for growing corals, any t5 ho light fixtures should work right? I got some t5 grow lights for an absolute steal and I'm faily crafty with metal and I'm an electrician by trade so im not concerned with anyof that. I just want to know it's not a waste of my time before I start building. Seems like a fun DIY project if it works out, and I can't imagine there'd be any problem, but I've been wrong before lol

I would check to see that the ballasts you have provide an output that matches the Reef bulbs available.

I mean it should work, but check the T5's specs. They are standard, so I believe you will be fine. :rolleyes: :cool:

I assumed so. They're 4ft 8bulb 432w(8×54w) grow lights. I'm gonna fab into something pretty neat hopefully. Stainless housings and $20 each. Figured might as well play around and if it doesn't work, oh well. I've spent more on less :face-with-tears-of-joy:
