I have been trying to grow chaeto in three different sumps. It would just slowly disappear. I tried all kind of lights cfl's, leds with no luck. I was at a frag show and ran into another member told him I was looking for some chaeto.... He said he was throwing away a bunch each month. I told him my issue. " You need these lights from E-Bay. I got three of them for each sump. It is growing so fast now I am thinning it out. Grows like crazy.

I just thought I would share.

My first reaction was "what's your water pramameters"?, But it sounds like you have found the answer and have enough nutrients in your system.

I am using the UFO light from amazon and chaeto was growing extremmly well. A couple of months ago, it stopped growing and I could not figure out why. About that time I started carbon dosing with NoPox. After talking to someone at Bulk Reef Supply, they suggested that I slowly ease off the carbon dosing. I started easing back on the amount of NoPox and my chaeto is growing again. I plan to slowly stop using NoPox and let my chaeto take care of nutrients.

I switched from a regular CFL bulb to a blue/red Amazon bulb (24w) about six months ago. My growth literally quadrupled.

I run a few 15w red/blue grow lights, and then a big "300W" (115 actual watts) chinese grow LED on my two sumps. On one of my other sumps I'm running a 45w LED grow light. So far happy with all of them, and they put out tons of power. Great growth.

It really is easy to under-power grow lights, and then you get kinda meh growth. I agree with the BRS video on this, go heavy on lights and grow like mad.
