Hi all,

Looking for some input from the aquascape experts here. I’m trying to recreate a scape similar to the one pictured. For my 60” x 24” tank, I’m thinking two similar structures.

My rough estimate is:

Total target: ~115 lb

MarcoRock Order breakdown:
• Foundation rock: 45 lb
• Regular Reef Saver: 40 lb
• Shelf rock: 30 lb

Does this seem reasonable, or am I over/underestimating for this style of scape?

It can never hurt to have more than you need. You will thank yourself when it comes time to put everything together as you will more have options.

Agreed, it’s easier and less frustrating to have options. And there’s a number of reasons you might want to remove/add a rock down the road.

Marcos shelves/foundation* are pretty heavy from my experience. So you might get sent less pieces than you expect.

*edit: added foundation

^good point. Also just thinking you could actually break the shelves you do get and it could make it easier to replicate the above scape; considering the weight and number.

Good luck!

My expirience: The shelves I got were mostly rather thick and refused to cleanly break thinner. Do hand picking if you can.
Otherwise, you can simply glue together a few small pieces to create a thin shelf.
I ordered 65kg, 140lb for my 60" and it was plenty. But it was really good and worth the extra money to be able to pick and choose and not to wory about each chisel strike.
