Got a 2 head hammer yesterday evening. I acclimated before work over 2hrs with drip and temp. All my parameters seem to be in check from all my test. If values are needed I will have to test again as me being in a hurry to get to work I didnt write them down. Anyways I just got home and figured I'd see some extension just a little by now but nothing. I have my AI Prime turned down plus it's on lunar schedule with 4 hr ramp. I have my powerheads giving it a gentle flow. The first pic doesn't show how closed up it is. The back head is more closed than the one facing the camera. But the second pic gives you the general idea of where in the tank I have it. Should I move it up or down or further off to the side.

It’s not happy that’s for sure. If you only have 1 prime I’d put it under that. It looks like it wants light. I have not had good luck with any lunar light and I’ve tried many of them. Corals always get mad and start dying. They need darkness just like any other animal.

Why did you drip acclimate? Just wondering

Also try to recall your parameters it’s really important lol. And what test kits

Oh, that’s an easy one, little salty but also low alk for how salty it is. Get your salinity to 1.025 and that hammer will plump up. Do you know your calcium or magnesium? They are equally as important as alk.

Oh. I do have a about 2hrs or dark between day and lunar cycles. Plus with the lunar setting on the prime it will simulate a full lunar cycle over 30 days from what I've noticed. The past few nights the light has been off I guess from simulating a new moon and tonight it's on but super low compared to my set point I guess simulating the moon coming back.

I'm just hoping that my daytime setting aren't to bright. Should I dial back my day time settings and slowly bring back up

Sweet. Yea I wish I could find a light with a lunar cycle my corals were happy with, it looks cool to me lol. The 360x lunar is still to bright for my tank :(

No with a prime you can have it high and be safe. Add some rodi get it back to 1.025, then do a water change to get your alk, cal, and mag back up. It will come back and look happy in a very short amount of time, my euphilla looks exactly like that in my tank without an ATO when I get back from vacation and the salinity has crept up to around your levels.

10-4. Yea I just didnt know if having my current set up would be to much light right out the gate and if should light acclimate it. Just dont want anything to happen. Ty

This is my opinion. Its new. New water, new light, new flow. It will get used to what you have. Dont burn it or starve it from light. Keep some flow on it. They like random flow. One direction then the other. Dont blast it, but dont baby it either. The fact you can see a little green means its just a bit frightened

He is getting low indirect flow. The light is a good 20 plus inches away. No par reading tho dont have the equipment. He is more centered in the under the light. So I guess I will see how he is in the morning and move him possibly further from the light if he hasn't opened up more or should I leave him be. Also now ready 1.026 salinity will continue small changes over night till it gets to 1.025

If it was me I would not keep moving him or changing the light. Hammers are pretty tough. Unlike SPS

My hammer did the same thing as yours, it looked very ugly for the first 3 days. Unfortunately, I cannot shower you with good news as my hammer has been in my tank for a month now and still doesn't fully extend but it is healthy. I still don't know why it won't extend!

I hope yours does well :) it looks very nice!
