HANNA. CHECKERS

I have all the major ones, ulr phosphate, hr nitrate, dkh alkalinity, magnesium, calcium(i use hanna water and don’t have reading issues). I also use a lab pipette to fill my test vials as the lines are less than 10ml on the vials.

I use dKh, PO4 ULR, and NO3 HR. I also have the PO4 LR, and NO3 ULR. There doesn't seem to be any difference between the 2 PO4 checkers and from what I can tell the reagents are interchangable for those 2. I am sure some one will roast me on here for it but I have played with it back and forth and have gotten consistent readings between the 2 phosphate checkers and have noticed no difference between the 2. The NO3 ULR has many extra steps so I don't use it much since my nitrate will probably be too high for it anyhow.

I also have the Mg, and Ca checkers and go back and forth from those to my Red Sea Foundation Pro kit. They also seem to give pretty reliable and consistent results.

Phosphate ULR. That’s it. Nitrate is too expensive per test these days and all we need is a range anyway. Salifert is way cheaper and plenty good for everything else

Must have Hanna Checkers for reef aquarium!
I've had them all, and sold them all except for one.

The Hanna ULR is the only one you 'need' - for the rest Salifert tests work just fine and have similar accuracy to Hanna.

If you have color vision issues then the Hanna with a digital read out may be worth it.

Otherwise they take too long, reagents cost too much, and are IMO just too much work for a simple test.

The only must have is the phosphate checker 774, the nitrate is nice to have, the alk checker is recommended by a lot of people but imo you can not rely on the results as the reagent for it can give variable results depending on age and from bottle to bottle.
