Hard time dialing in Herbie overflow set up

Have a 220 dual overflow set up with Durso, I am trying to set it up as a Herbie full siphon. I used the pipe from the mega flow Durso set up, took the elbow off and put a strainer, then I use the return pipe as an emergency drain. On the other overflow I did the same with the overflow pipe but instead left the return line in place instead to send water back into the DT.
I have gated valves set up but for the life of me I can’t get them dial in.
If I tried to just get it set at the edge of the emergency drain it fluctuates up and down so it will stay quiet than it rises and goes into the emergency pipe creating noise.
The other overflow which is on the futher side where the pipes drain into the sump it is not as fast as the the other one but I can’t get it to level out.
I can cut the pipe and go almost straight down into the return pump compartment but that would defeat the purpose.
Pump is running at 80% .
Maybe I need to dial down the wave makers?
I can get the overflow with the emergency pipe to be consistent but the water level is half a inch below edge of emergency drain pipe,

Can u share a picture of the drains and water level ? Having two drains to dial makes it harder so can u use one gate valved drain as main drain and then use the other drai s as emergency ones? Water going up should be minimal to not cause much noise so I'd keep gradually opening the valve.
Also make sure u have given the pipes few days to slime up as that changes flow.

The white pipe in the sump is the emergency drain that sits 1 inch off the water

It is not running into a sock or mesh, right? I would remove the strainer and see if you can dial it in then.

I have a dual herbie but haven't had any issues. I will say a controllable return pump, even a jeabo is nice if you need to make minute adjustments rather than fiddling with the valves more.

No socks or mesh, have the Jebao 10000 that is running at 80%

The white pipe is 3/4 , the emergency drain going into the sump, I don’t know what “stalrqiner “ is.

Took the 1.25 inch main siphon pipes that tied into the 1” pipes under the bulkheads and replaced them with 1” pipes was able to dial it in to where is steady at half inch below the top of emergency drain, I’ll play with the speed of the pump to raise it a bit higher but I am concerned running the pump at almost full speed will burn it out quicker.

No, one over flow is running the Herbie set up, the other overflow is a stand along siphon with a return pipe to feed back the water from return pump into the dt

Doesn’t matter as long as it’s silent and the water level is where you want it

Dint last long , goes up and down during the day, I might have the drain pipes too far down below the water line in the sump, tomorrow I’ll replace them with shorter ones one inch into the the water versus 5 inches

1-2 inches is recommended normally with a 45 elbow at the end

Ok I cut the both to 1 inch below the line and it seems to help a little but one side drains faster than the other overflow, my sump is designed with the overflow both on one end so one overflow pipe has to go across the 6 feet to reach it making it slower and harder to adjust, can I just eliminate that long pipe and run it instead straight into the sump even thought it will bypass the refugium and skimmer?

First off I would use the bigger hole as your emergency.
There is this guy on YouTube that does this. Just watch this and copy what he does. I would make your returns go over the back.

Finally said hell with it, ran return over back of DT and converted both overflows to Herbies and just like that I was able to tune them in where is stable for the past 24 hours with a few drops going into the emergency pipes
