Having trouble securing Devils Hand

So I have a nice size Devils hand coral. At least 6"x6". When i btought it home part of the stalk had folded over. It is attached to a very small rock at its base. I tried to rubber band ut to a rock. The stalk remained folded and it kept falling over. Also it was turning white. Then I tried to tie it. Same thing. Well it didn't fall but stalk turned white. So now I unsecured and laid it down to let the stalk rejuvinate. before I try again. Will it be okay te let lay for awhile? Any tips on mounting it?

It can be a pain to get these guys to grab on. I feel you. Best thing I do is find a couple rocks and put it between the two. Push them close, but not damaging. Can even make a little area of rocks. It will take a week or more, but it will eventually attach to one or multiple of the rocks near it.

Prop it up surrounded and it should be fine once attached to move if you want to. I do this in my qt usually, but have had to do it in the display at times too.

Mine have never liked the rubbe band method.

This Devils Hand Coral just dropped the bottom part that got bent and never got straight. I put it in my 120. I didn't want it there but that is the better tank for it. It likes it in there. It smells somewhat from that part that died off. Hopefully it will live. It looks like crap compared to how it looked in the other guys tanks.

Make a fresh razor blade cut an inch or two from the body then rubber band it to a rock. Make sure the fresh cut part is touching the rock. It may take a week or two to secure. Good luck.

If i understand correctly it is already attached to a very small rock?. If so just superglue that rock the larger rock you want it attached to.

This is what I did with my sinularia just placed 3 rock rubbles around it to keep it upright and after 3 weeks it was secure to the primary rock base. My finger coral I just glued the bottom to a rock base and it's been fine too.

I have a few frags of the my devils hand and had to let it attach to rubble in a dish. Same with some toadstool. Silly corals.

I do this for mushrooms too. I just have bad luck with rubber bands. Either too tight or fall off. I tried sewing thread, but again, too tight and tore or not tight enough.

Ive put them in plastic cups that are small allowing you to slide lots of rubble and sand in it. Kind of like planting a plant, only a softy by burying it's stalk.

I find this way they attach relatively quicker than any other stressing way with rubber bands. Lift it by stalk every couple weeks until you see rubble and sand attached and then fix it down and toss the cup out (recycle it of course).

Just a thought.

Ok thanks to all. It dropped the rock. It dropped an inch of its stalk that bent during travel. I put it at the top of my ricks in a hole just a bit larger than the stalk. the rock beneath it is larger and it cannot fall over. it is laying its whole head flat on the rock and the stalk is all the way in the hole. The stalk dropped the dead part so hopefully where is seperated it will adhere to the rock. I don't want it there but I don't want to kill it. My sinularia I tied with thread (and glued) to a piece of dead play coral. It had attached not. The DHC is not attached. I just lowered it into the hole which is deeper than the stalk. But not much more wide.
