The fishery will reopen soon. We are not banned, but not permitted yet. The court order that started this entire saga has been completed and satisfied for years. The administrators that have overly involved themselves in this process have been stalling and purposefully slow walking it despite everything being complete and the recommendations from our resource managers and scientists. Despite all this, we have finally worked our way through the list of excuses and there are no more games to play. These administrators have been holding us back in violation of the law expressed by our legislators. This entire thing is much deeper than just yellow tangs, it’s corruption. A rules package has been initiated by our resource managers and they are taking this to the Land Board very soon. This will begin a short process of meetings and decision making and hopefully at the end the fishery will be open soon. If not, the violation of law will be explored in the courts
