Not that I'm experienced at that but without warm water to pour on your tounge before your mom pulls you away from the wrought iron porch railing.... it does peel a layer or two of skin off and it hurts for days. Ya, electric fenses aren't fun either....that is "IF" I was experianced. Just things I have heard over the years. ;Hilarious

I finally got a pair of Fudsey Frames, but I needed to zoom in a tad bit more. So, I bought my wife some lenses for a late Christmas gift. Since she doesn't take pics of the tanks very often I suppose the only other option is to use them myself. ;Hilarious

Kind like when I bought her a new drill, deer rifle and pellet smoker. Remember, it's the thought that counts.

Her nem tank in IMO is stunning when the lights are gearing up. I am finally able to capture what my eyes are seeing that my cell phone couldn't process without a filter.

Ok @Scurvy & @Fudsey, I seen the pics of that tourch and must say I am extremely jealous and had to resort to extrodanary measures. This is the only tourch I could find locally, should I place it in the center as a focal point? :D

Living in the middle of the country does have a few drawbacks, but we learn to overcome and adapt!

Hahaha! Lighting should be ok from the flame however keeping it lit/flow is going to be a real issue ;)

My tank is really getting hammered by the uglies right now. Im not to bummed, this has been a great tank with little problems and a small challenge is kind of refreshing. But I'm sad to say it's my own fault due to stupid and totally unavoidable mistakes. Di resin exhausted and I didn't catch it until after the algea bloom started. Followed up by a bad refractometer. Calibrated and thought everything was spot on, not. For a sanity check I took it into my lfs just to confirm my readings and to see what his salinity in his tanks were reading. We discovered we could calibrate it but it wouldn't hold. Trashed it and bought a new one and back in business. I recommend somehow testing your test equipment every now and then just to make sure it is functioning correctly...before things get ugly.

When I used a refractometer I recalibrated it every time. Sometimes just with RO/DI because I found calibrating both ways held true enough. I LOVE my Pinpoint Salinity Monitor BTW.

Thanks for pointing out a new toy! I take it the pin point is accurate and reliable? I'm shopping now! :)

I love it. Quick and easy. I check it against the refractometer about once a month. I also keep some Salinity standards on hand for each I made with Morton’s iodized salt using Randy’s procedure. Just be aware when using table salt, the standard solution is different for each measuring device.

I bought mine used BTW. The person seemed to have it set wrong. They said they could not get it to work. It seemed to be calibrated to 35 and not 53 mS/cm. I see them pop up once and a while.
