if it’s the one I’m thinking off, then the plus of that model is, you can set the variance to .1c rather than .3c on the 306a model.

Just make sure you got it with the water proof probe.
Oh yes, I made sure I got the "aquarium" model. WiFi would have been nice, but this one does the job and gives me enough peace of mind. One day i'll get an apex and go full wifi... a girl can dream!

Redundancy on heater control is always a good idea. Also checking the thermostat of the heater is a good idea. I recently got a finnex 300w heater from brs by accident. Brs said keep it so I put it in a bucket to check calibration. The heater had to be set to 88 to keep 78.

I dont use a heater. I keep my house at 24c. The tank runs at 25c. If my hvac fails ill know it and drop in some emergency heaters.
