Hello, I haven’t been around for a while. Just so wondering what the favorite sources are for nems online.

Thanks

(@OrionN hello my friend, sent you a pm)

I can't imagine buying a bta nem from an online source nowadays....super expensive for random BTAs. Depending where you live local reefers are usually a much better deal.

although...for carpets or "special" nems, like Heteractis, I've read good experiences with pacific east aquaculture.

I bought mine from Dr. Reef. I didn't want to take a chance with my own quarantine methods so I decided to go for pre-quarantined. I purchased the Acid Washed Rainbow BTA. It arrived healthy and looks just like the photo on the website. I followed his instructions for acclimation and it's been open and thriving. It even has bubble tips! I'm so thrilled with my purchase. (Here are pictures with Blues and Whiter lights)

Just at first glance his prices aren’t bad. 79-150 isn’t bad for a pink footed ritt.

Im the new guy tho what do I know lol. ?

Just another place for my Home Screen

I can appreciate that but this is my first reef. If there were hitchhickers or if the nem was not as healthy, I have no idea how to resolve those issues. The prices seemed to align with other non-quarantine vendors, but less risk. To avoid a bad experience I think quarantined was a great decision. My nem has been a joy.

As previously mentioned, it really depends on the species of anemone you're looking for. For BTAs, you can find them everywhere online--you just need to be mindful of marketing terms (words like sunrise, sunset, acid, and sunburst--the only two lineages are the Colorado Sunburst aka "CSB" and the Chicago Sunburst aka "ChSB") that drive up the price. That said, if you ask your local clubs or Facebook groups, you'll most likely find a nice BTA at a great price.

For other species, particularly gigantea and magnifica, their health and overall rate of success typically depends on how long the anemone has been in the supply chain--the longer it's been moving from collector to exporter to importer to retailer, the higher the risk of infection or other ailments. I don't think there is a retailer that can guarantee a short transit time. In most cases, it's best to see the anemone in person so that you're able to make your own assessment.
