I've been in the hobby for about 10 years. I was an active member of Talking Reef before it dissolved, and Reef Central has just gotten too big!! I hope to find a home here.

I've slacked on the hobby for the past year, but I'm diving back in!!

Hey! Thanx for the welcome!! I'm in the process of overhauling a few things, kaching!!! I have a 125 gl reef. I just pulled out 3 halides and replaced with three orbit marine LEDs.

My Sedra 3500 for my Euro Reef skimmer died a year ago (my second one in as many years, Grrr...) and I hadn't replaced, but I didn't have much livestock and have a ton of live rock, so it hadn't been a problem. NOW I am in the market... I'm not sure that I'm willing to put $160 (plus $33 shipping) back into a pump that I'm not too crazy about (can't imagine why!). I'm looking for advice or suggestions. I have the EroReef RS 80. To scrap or not to scrap?!?!

Welcome to R2R!! As far as whether or not to scrap the skimmer, I probably would, I just can't see spending that much money on fixing it. I would go with another brand.

Thanx for the welcome Krista! I think, in the back of my mind, what I'm hoping is that someone here Is familiar enough with that skimmer. I wouldn't mind modding something. I'm just really unfamiliar with other skimmer pumps as this is the only type I've used. I HATE to scrap it, but will if I can't find an alternative!!

Welcome! I agree with Krista too. I run a SWC160. I love those skimmers. You can probably find some good skimmers on the forums here too. Keep your eye out!

*Welcome to Reef2Reef!* You may want to ask your skimmer question in the equipment area of the forum,I personally am not familiar with your model. My skimmer is a low end type,if the pump went out I would simply replace it with a similar one.
