I have been keeping salt water fish for around 40 years on and off. My early aquariums were set up with under gravel filters powered by air pumps, before powerheads came onto the market!
I have always kept fish only tanks, albeit with the occasional invert. Such as Mali and bubble anemones, cleaner shrimps and hermit crabs.
I am just about to set up a Jewel marine Rio 350 with protein skimmer, which I will add an under gravel filter to as these have always worked for me.
