This came attached to a new chalice frag. I had guessed because of the tube I needed to dip more than once so closely supervised them being dipped. But after several days I haven't seen anything until tonight.
So what is it? Do I need to try and manually remove it or re dip? Or can I leave it live?
Thank you !

Okay so should I kill it or how do I get rid of it ?

Those big ones I don't find get everywhere, like the little ones can, yet they have a pretty big web. Sometimes that web can irritate the corals. People often break/crush the shells, but you often have to put putty or something over the remnants of the tube. They can retreat pretty fast and often survive and rebuild the tube after crushing only.

It's actually a snail... I know, weird right? So cool.

I can't think of another tube worm or tube snail that cast nets... not off the top of my head.

I'm doing my version of surgery to the stunner it's attached to today, I'm not taking any chances of it spreading or surviving. I've worked really hard to not even have bristle worms in this tank since I'm allergic to them. So unfortunately for me there will probably be a piece of the stunner that I will have to sacrifice...

Oh My ! I have a few in my tank ! I always thought they were good filter feeders ,helping to clean the water ! They "will " be treated with extreme prejudice very soon !
Honestly Thanks to everyONE here at R2R , I have learned so much !

PS. I plan to crush the tube and let Miss Penny the Copper Band take care of it.

I've got several of these that have taken over my favia. The favia is not happy. I'm going to be pulling it soon and plugging all the their burrows with marine glue. Hopefully the favia will make it

Glue is what I did also. If you have pinpoint accuracy you can do it without making a mess which is what I opted for, leaving a natural un tampered look.
