I might be overreacting but why did he retract so quick when the light when off D:

Even when the lights are on, the can inflate and deflate and shrink.

This is either because they are trying to expel junk from their system...or they want to move and the contractions help the wiggle around.

When you really need to worry is when they go wide open or your water gets cloudy. (Always be ready with some water and carbon on hand btw... I learned my lesson early on keeping nems and suffered 2 major crashes I the process)
