I recently received a hammer and frogspawn shipped to me via overnight mail. The hammer (1st picture below) was still extended / you can see the polyps but the flesh part underneath was looking a bit brown. It was a bit slimy but when I tried turkey bastering it, nothing really came off so I wanted to check if there is any risk of brown jelly? The frogspawn (pictures 2-5) was completely retracted and seemed in tough shape. Nothing came off when I bastered it but wanted to check if this is too far gone / should I risk putting it in my tank. I unfortunately don't have a full QT setup and it would be tank or 5-gal bucket. I don't think I've ever received euphylia that looked this stressed and also, so far, haven't gotten anything with BJD so wanted folks' opinions.

If you see tissue recession and tight short fleshbands it’s a clear indicator the coral is unhappy.

If I were you I’d get my money back/get a credit since you are questioning the fleshbands. If that’s not an option you can consider placing it in a low light low flow area in your tank and consider treating it with an antibiotic.

I would put them in your tank and see how they look in a few days. They could just be stressed from shipping.

Got it. I put them in and the hammer is looking mostly like it did when it arrived -- as extended as my existing euphyllia so hoping it's ok. The frogspawn is coming out a tiny bit and I've put it in the low light, lowest flow corner of my tank. So far no observable brown goo as far as I can tell but adding a picture below too just in case I don't know the right things to look for.

Probably what you saw when you first unbagged them is their protective slime coat.
