I am needing suggestions on how to save this Master Warpaint Scoly.

It has always had Clove Polyps on it, even when it was at the LFS (see above photo for what it originally looked like).

A couple months ago, I had a mini tank crash caused by a large Alk swing which killed all my SPS, some other Scolys and a Torch I had.

This Warpaint however, despite taking a good bit of damage, still feels salvageable as it still has a healthy mouth with a feeding response each day.

However, a major hurdle is as the skeleton has been exposed, the Clove Polyps have taken over a majority of the realetate, preventing the Scoly from healing and I imagine irritating it to no end (see below).

Since the above photo was taken, I have tried to pull them off with tweezers, cut them off with a razor blade, brush them off with a stiff toothbrush, but they just shrink and hide inside the Scoly's skeleton.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to remove or kill the Clove Polyps while not killing or damaging the remaining flesh on the scoly?

Any help would be amazing.

Research fenbendazole for blue clove polyps. Maybe can dip instead of tank treatment since it kills inverts like snails too.

not that I am aware of. Many SPS reefers have used it to kill coral boring spionid worms in tank. It will hit other polyp types like mushrooms zoas etc. plus snails and things. As far as I know it's ok for stony corals.

Interesting. Any idea how long to dip it for? Of what I can find online it will need to be done in its own QT tank

Don't know. I have never used it. You will have to look around for vet sources as it is a dewormer for animals. You could always try covering the skeleton where the cloves are with epoxy or gel glue first.

In the future take care of something like this right away, before the scolly is so stressed and while there were fewer cloves. Hopefully it can recover. Another concern is the cloves popping up elsewhere in the tank. Never buy a coral with such pest already attached to it, even though that scolly is pretty insane

I’ve used kalk paste on them before. You need to be pretty accurate and I usually siphon it out after a little while so i don’t have an alk swing.
