Help! Maxspect crashed? Lights and control not working

I just went to change a setting on my Maxpsect RSX and the control screen went to this "firmware" screen and the lights turned off. I can not get it to return to normal. Anyone have any ideas?

#reefsquad! Sounds dumb, but have you unplugged it, let sit for 5mins and plugged it back in?

yes unfortunately no luck doing that!

Not sure if this will work with your particular unit. I knew I had heard of something similar awhile ago. But anyway, you might want to try this. Good luck:

To reset the Ethereal, just disconnect power, press and hold the control dial then reconnect power. Once the power has been resumed while the control dial is pressed, you can see the RGB light flashing red and green, then let go of the control dial, then press and hold it for 5 seconds, the Ethereal is now reset.

Just tried this, didnt work. When I hold the control button while plugging in the control screen stays blank (black) until I let go of the button, then it returns to the screen pictured above. This is an RSX nor Ethereal btw. Thanks for the suggestion

Goto maxspect website download the latest firmware place it in micro SD then insert in the unit when it's off. After inserting sd card turn unit on and let it finish updating. Once finished it will automatically reboot.

Note download same firmware if no update is available. You just need to fool the unit into thinking its getting a new file.

Ill let you know later when I try this. I need to run out and buy a micro SD.

I had a dream that I smacked it and the lights turned on, so this morning I tried it and they did ... except the settings were at 255% for each channel and then when I pressed the control button it returned to the screen posted above. Very strange ... for sure a software issue or something in the control board is loose?

No luck doing this, same screen. Doesn't seem to recognize the micro SD at all

I just held down the button after powering on and it gave me "flasherror...." then turned back to the screen above again when I let go
