Help me save these sps!!

So i put around 6 nice sps through a dip after the swap today. Half a tablet of fluke tab for 2 gallons in a VERY clean bucket. The the corals bleached! Some still have some polyps but are in that brown peeling off state. Is there any hope? I have ORA Tyree and GARF corals at risk :cry:. Thank god i did not dip the oregon tort. Help!

I don't know of anything......

I know it doesn't seem like it but loosing a few corals is way better than dealing with some of the stuff you can pick up at swaps.

+1 and IME, there's no way to stop RTN. If the coral wants to die, even extreme fragging won't stop it. Maybe we can find a cause, but if you've been doing the same dip for every coral in the past, it's probably not something in your dip technique and just a horrible fluke.

they're dead :( This was my first sps dip and nobody told me that they meant salt water when they said ''put half a tablet in a gallon of water'' i just assumed that i should use ro water like all the other dips. Great gone horribly bad

Doh.... well atleast you know what happened.

Theres been a couple times in the hobby where i couldn't explain what happened... thats the worst. My suggestion would be just don't get frustrated and let this prevent you from dipping in the future. It is very important and if you'd seen some of the stuff i've had die off of SWAP corals in the past you'd be amazed.

yea, i love it! I would have never of thought that i would have two vortechs (i just bought an mp40). I would see them in other peoples tanks and think that when im older and have a full time job i would be able to afford one. :D

Glad to see you know what happened so you can prevent it in the future.

FWIW all of us around here use Revive from Two Little Fishies. It kills everything including red bugs and aefw, nudis, sea spiders, stars, pods and anything else that may be crawling around. The only word of caution is to not use it for deepwater or fine branched SPS like turakis, echinatas, lokanis etc. They don't like it for some reason.

+1 use the two litte fishes coral revive dip, I have dipped several new lps/sps using revive without any problems what so ever and it is strong enough to knock off just about anything but eggs, which you have to visually search for anyway..sorry to hear about your loss!

Best thing and safest I have found for a dip to kill off about anything except the coral is 1/2gl tank water, 2-3 drops of flatworm exit and a couple capfuls Kent's Super iodine for 15-30 minutes.
Sorry to hear about loosing them. Always stinks when we loose nice corals.

I have the Kent Tech I Iodine supplement. Is that the same thing?

Next time you start having RTN try fragging them and keep each piece away from one another. I just managed to save 2 pieces of my tricolor that way. Sorry 4 your loss and keep your head up ;)

My ORA Borealis has hope! What do i do? I can see the polyps in their holes and some extended towards the bottom. The skeleton is not completely white yet. What is the best way to save it? I also want to give a big thanks to Keith (macawmagic) for giving me new frags :)
