I post this post under general reefing on reef2reef. And I was suggested and directed to this ID forum. I need some help now, 275g, non-stop 28 year reef tanks. These started as a small patch 3 months ago and have now grown a real lot ( to about 3 inch's across ). But now I am getting small patch's of them starting all over my rock work. When blasted, combed, or brushed they go in but they do have a long pretty strong firm tube. Brownish in color and there tubes are so firm and extremely strong.. Please help me as they are going to take over soon.. little colonize are popping up all over now. I did just spot about 4 more colonies that have started very recently. I wish I could get a better decent picture of them... Maybe some of you have had these before, or know about them? I do believe they are not good.. Please Help

No photos but I saw your other thread.. they are colonized hydroids and I’ve personally only dealt with them once! I fought and fought and nothing worked but pulling the rock and doing an acid bath to remove them.

No need for a 3rd thread for this same issue. You have gotten plenty of responses in your other threads about this.

Without a picture it's hard to say, but if I were to guess, my first guess would be vermetid snails....a sessile snail that looks like a little tube. They are not good in that they put out stinging sweepers.

Colonial Hydroids as I now seen has been mentioned quite a few times before lol
if your lucky you might be able to obtain some special seaslug or nudibranchs which consume them but probably better off removing the rock chipping that bit off if possible,
Pictures of them

or epoxying over them completely to kill em off
