Hey,

So I've just done my water tests and I'm in very urgent help. My salinity is perfect

So my nitrates are extremely high!!
I've done a water change 25% to see the same results....
Any idea why this is happening.
Currently my 90 litre is going through a ugly stage with algae.

My current live stock is x5 turbo snails x2 cleaner shrimp. A pistol shrimp. A goby and a conch.

I'm unsure if I should do another water change. I'm currently not doesing or adding anything to my tank. Very basic.
Skimmer.filter floss. Media. And a sponge in the back. With a ATO.

Any advice please. Do I need to do a water change?
Photos of my tests are above any questions I'd greatly enjoy. Atleast my ammonia is fine.

Looks like 50 but I'm more close to 100 if I'm being honest
Okay. First, the emergency tag is only to be used in real emergencies. Having high nitrates is not an emergency. Yes do a water change if they're high.

50 is a tolerable level although seems a bit lower but you of course want to aim for 20-30. Best is to reduce amount fed, and change water at 2-3 gallons daily for 10-14 days and you will see a drop, What filter(s) are you utilizing in your tank?

Nitrates do not change in tests for about 24 hours I read once.

So do not retest post water change for at least 24 hours .

Also don’t overdue water changes or you will cycle your tank possibly crash it.

That's not how you measure nitrate with the salifert test. You need to look from the top.

You need to read the instructions more carefully or you could make some bad decisions due to panicking.
