TLDR: Looking for a ~26" 6' tank with a great reputation.

We have a Red Sea Reefer XXl 750 in the basement of our current house that's 5 years old. We're moving, and the new house has a nice little sitting area/small living room just inside the front door where we've been given the engineering green light to put a 6' tank. Our thinking is this: Red Sea doesn't have the most iron-clad reputation in terms of catastrophic leaking, and rather than subjecting a 5 year old saltwater-exposed seam tank to the stress of moving, perhaps it's time to consider an upgrade.

Over and over again on the forums folks swear by Innovative Marine, and I was sold on the EXT 200; stellar reputation, clear top bracing, massive seams, and I love the idea of the external overflow allowing complete access to the tank. The trouble is, it's really deep at 30" and might look just a bit awkward sticking out in the small room (total of 34-35" with wall clearance). Current tank is 25.6" but it seems like all the 6' tanks, even Red Sea, are going deeper these days. The Cade S2 1800 is 28". It doesn't look like there's a comparably sized Waterbox. The Red Sea S2+ 850 now with bracing and aluminum frame is 27" but also $7000 for bare bones tank so get out of here with that...

I feel like that exhausts the brands with the best reputations. Anyone have any other ideas to consider? Willing to go smaller but at least for IM their smaller tanks are either as deep or deeper than 30" from what I'm seeing.

Hi,
Have you checked out glass cages? They are a stellar company, great reviews, and you can do custom sizes. I think they will cost more than IM or water box, but it may be worth it to get exactly what you want.
