Ive had this puffer for about 2 weeks now. She looks like she either has an injury or some kind of bacterial infection? All other fish in the tank are fine and healthy.

I have the best pictures I could get of her, she will not let me get a video. When I approach the tank she immediately turns the affected side away and hides in the rocks. That behavior itself is her normal, she really doesnt like people looking at her and is very anti social in general before this popped up.

Any ideas from the pictures? Im trying to get a video of her. I cant put the whites on because the red sea app keeps giving me a failed to sync message of course.

She does lay on the sand up front but the second she sees me she immediately pops up and goes to hide so I cant tell if shes breathing fast or not.

Thanks for the help, Ill keep trying to get better pictures of her.

PS I fed the tank to get her to come out so thats the specks that will be seen in the video and just did a water change so the water might be a little cloudy looking

The glitter on its eye is normal. The white blotch on its left side could be a scrape injury with possible secondary bacterial infection….tough to see clearly.

This genus of fish is really prone to external protozoan infections - they really need to go through a coppersafe treatment as well as prazi.

While I agree on scrape injury, on the other side, I have seen this multiple times with the spiney box and a puffer I dont recommend as its prone to ich, bacterial and viral infections and I stopped selling them when I had my LFS for these reasons. While a typical remedy is seachem Kanaplex with added aeration, its hard to tell how it will respond to this broad spectrum treatment

I do have coppersafe running in the tank, no inverts or corals so I just decided to treat the whole DT. I have not done prazi though
