Help regarding Cyano

You have to use more than the instructions state.
For instance with the liquid chemiclean if you need 10 drops per the instructions you will use 15 drops. Also may have to dose twice once every 24 hours depending on the size of the outbreak.

Yeah, couldnt get my hands on any earlier. =) will let it stand until tomorrow, ill also add abit more sample to the container :)

I used both Chemiclean and Red Slime without any death incident. My last attempt was removing all sand bed and the problem went away. It really open my eyes to how much sediment my fishes generate every day and phosphate issue due to that. It's not a good luck I must admit but the red slime is gone so I'm down with that.

Follow my h2o2 dosing steps and it will be gone (as long as spirulina is not mixed in there also)

H2o2 is completely safe for the whole tank :)

so 10 ml (90g) a day every 12 hours for 2 weeks then, gonna have to wait then. Going to greece in a week :/

7 days of dosing won't cut it.
It needs to be 14 at the minimum

I know 7 days wont cut it, I was thinking of doing 7 days of dosing, and when i get home continue the dosing. :)

It needs to be continuous unfortunately
You can dose now to slow it down and that will aid in removal then when you are back dose the 14 days so you never see it again :)

I've been battling cyano for a awhile now. I've been scratching my head as to what is causing it. I test no3 and po4 religiously with only showing Zeros.

Finally I decided to scoop out as much cyano as possible and began vacuuming the sand bed. You can pinch the vacuum line so you don't suck up the sand. After doing this, the cyano grew back. But I didn't give up.
I waited another week. Letting the cyano grow. Went to test no3 and po4 without results, again. Frustrated I decided to again, scoop up as much cyano as possible. But this time instead of vacuuming, I switch my sponge filters for filter floss or you can use filter socks. And took a turkey baster, and blasted the sand to stir up detritus. The tank turned into a big cloud of gray.

Every 2 hours I switched out filter floss, to help clear out as much detritus out. Let the tank settle over night. Woke up the next day and again noticed some cyano growing back. Not as much this time. So I did my po4 test with hanna checker. FINALLY!! I got a phosphate reading of 0.07. From here I know it's a phosphate issue and I can now begin clearing i out. 0.07 is high and so, it's something I should worry about.
