Hello I need your guys help with what my yt has. Ich? Velvet? Something else? For sure need to qt everyone in a different tank but what do I add to the qt tank for medications, and where to purchase. He’s still eating nori and brine shrimp well, hasn’t stopped eating. I have a blue tang, 2 clownfish, firefish goby, and royal gramma, and they aren’t showing anything. Can’t really see in video.

got him early December, after he had been delayed, arrived thin and pale and he went to my 13.5 evo till I got him eating nori and brine shrimp, and made sure he was well, he’s been in the display for about 2 weeks now, same with the blue hippo everyone else has been in the tank. I’ve just added some corals from the lfs.

The video is too blue to see much.

Looks like ich and the fish is very thin. How long have you had it?

You’ll need to treat all exposed fish with Coppersafe at 2.25 ppm in a hospital tank. The Hanna HR probe is the best way to test that. Another option would be hyposalinity at 1.009. Both treatments take 30 days and your main tank will need to remain fishless for 60 days.

This is ich and you will need to place fish in Quarantine tank and treat with Coppersafe or Copper Power at therapeutic level 2.25 for a FULL 30 days (do not interrupt this 30 day period) monitored with a Hanna Brand copper test kit- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone. All other fish in with it should also be removed as they have also been exposed to the parasites and placed in quarantine tank.
The display tank will have to be kept fishless (FALLOW) for 6-8 weeks to assure the existing parasites go through their life cycle without a host fish and die off.
A quarantine tank can be as simple as a tank from a second hand store, a Rubbermaid type tub or a starter kit from Walmart which most of the needed essentials.

Hello thank you for your advice, I will most definitely follow qt in my 13.5 evo since they are small about quarter size. I got him early December, after he had been delayed, arrived thin and pale and he went to my 13.5 evo till I got him eating nori and brine shrimp, and made sure he was well, he’s been in the display for about 2 weeks now, same with the blue hippo everyone else has been in the tank. They’ll definitely all go to my 13.5 evo since the tangs are quarter size still but where do u recommend buying the copper safe or copper powder? What do you thinks the best way to remove the fish from the display tank without disturbing an destroying everything

LFS should have coppersafe as does BRS online, saltwatertank.com and amazon

I agree, a fish trap and catching them after light outs works best. I have also had to remove rocks to catch fish. One thing to be aware of - people tend to get fixated on catching the fish and they end up beating the fish up chasing them around the tank. If you don't net them in the very first tries, regroup and try something different later on, don't just keep chasing them. One trick is to have two nets - set one up next to a rock with the mouth open, then try to chase the fish into it with the other net (that's how you catch fish in the wild, but it takes practice).
