Last week i noticed my sps starting to bleach from the bottom and today i noticed some white stuff on them. Any idea? Any help would be great. Also my chalice is receding as well, but my zoas and other LPS are doing fine.

The pics are good, but what are your parameters at?

Ammonia
Nitrate
Nitrite
Calcium
Alkalinity
Mag
Salinity/Specific Gravity

It is hard to give a good solution without all the info needed. I know I had this issue when the tank had a low alkalinity issue...

Are you using GFO and/or GAC? How often do you do water changes and have you been keeping up with them?

Great questions, following along. Tell us about your system, ie. sump, lighting, age, light cycle, any additives....

Okay i just checked the parameters:

Here is amonia 0
Phosphate: 0
Nitrate:0
Alk: 8.5
Mag: 1700
Cal: 600
Salinity: 1.026

System's been setup for 4 months now. Water change every two week. Its a biocube 29g HQI with 14K 150 watts double ended Phoenix bulb.

My question is how you lower Cal, Mag. They are pretty high.

your cal is way high and so is MG....what salt mix are you using? what are the parameters of the mix? i would try to do a few water changes (like 5Gallons at a time) so as to dilute those numbers downward....but you have to make sure your salt mix is where you want it.....

Are you dosing Ca, Alk and Mg? If so what are you dosing?

I use 2 part and I keep my Alk around 7.7 (your alk number is fine) and Ca 450, and Mg about 1400. Mg I only check every 6 months and adjust accordingly.

From looking at the pic of the acro, it kinda looks like tissue necrosis instead of bleaching

What salt are you using?

You can lower the numbers by using a lower grade salt. Try using the standard Instant Ocean salt which has lower parameters than Reef Crystals or other coral specific salts.

Did this come from a running system? If not and you did the cycle and setup in 4 months, your tank is pretty full already. I would have shied away from SPS for a bit while the tank matures a little more. But they are there so the issue needs correction.

Remember though, a fast change, even if it heads in a good direction can be a bad change... Make corrections slowly over time, not immediately.

I use Reef Crystals. I do have regular Instant Ocean. Let me do the WC. I will see what happens and keep you posted. Thanks everyone for all the help.

Nope. I have using the same salt since i started this hobby. One thing i can think of that might be the reason is that i have 150 gallon Instant Ocean Reef Crystals bucket and i am almost out of the salt. This was probably my second to last batch and i think that the heavy concentration might be sitting at the bottom of the Bucket and maybe thats why there is the higher reading in Cal and Mag.

What causes tissue necrosis? How can you stop it? Following along here because my green slimmer frag is doing the exact same thing turning white at the base heading upwards on the frag.

Since all of your other levels are fine I would start with getting your magnesium between 1200 - 1400. I would also work on lowering your calcium to 420-450.

What are you using to measure Salinity? With your mag and calcium that high, sounds like you're mixing your new saltwater way over 1.026.

Before you start going crazy... What test kits are you using to test? These numbers are unusually high. I had a problem like this In the past. It was related to alkalinity swings.

I had very similar issues a couple months ago, after carefully observing every posibility i narrowed the problem down to a lack of nutrients.
